About Us

Melanie Hand Design Jewellery is an Irish owned family business that creates a wide range of handmade costume jewellery. Melanie previously worked in the fashion business as a designer and dressmaker. She has since worked 20 years as a jewellery designer and manufacturer with her mother Jennifer Hudson, and subsequently took over the long running family business in 1999, on the retirement of her mother Jennifer Hudson. 

Melanie has trained in the use of Clay Silver, Glass Bead making and Glass Fusing. She uses a mixture of beads in her work, collected worldwide, including Swarovski crystal and Murano glass. She sets these beads on a variety of materials, including TigerTail, which is durable and allergen free, and wire work which provides flexibility in complex designs. Melanie has recently begun to use lace in her necklaces as it provides uniqueness. Melanie only uses the highest quality materials to ensure that her work is produced to an excellent standard while still being affordable. 

Melanie sells a range of bespoke costume jewellery which includes necklaces, earrings, bracelets, rings, brooches, and fascinators. Melanie recently has begun to focus on the creation of eye-catching and unique wedding jewellery. Brides to be can make an appointment with Melanie to create something unique and ideal pieces of jewellery for both the bride and her bridesmaids. 

Melanie mixes old trends with new and experiments with new designs whenever possible, while maintaining a selection of timeless pieces.
